June 5... Viva La Mexico!

Today, our family gathered our belongings and found our way through the airport.

Destination: Atlanta, Georgia.

Yep. That's right. That lovely state, known for its peaches and lovely accent.... at least I think so. We didn't actually leave the airport. However, it was still a new thing, a new state, and an adventure in itself. We didn't get much time to survey, because we had to head straight for our other plane... this time Destination Mexico.

(Ai ai aieeeeyyaaa!)

We arrived to this lovely country late at night. I remember the humidity was crushing my lungs, but I was happy to be there. As we attempted to leave, we were hounded by lots of pushy guys, trying to get us to buy a timeshare... it was quite interesting. After we found our tour guide, we had to take an hour long drive to Playa Del Carmen, where we were to spend the rest of our time. We arrived at the lobby a bit tired, but excited, because... our resort was all-inclusive. Know what that means?? Free pina coladas, anytime, anywhere. As soon as we walked in, a man came up to us and got us free drinks. It was all good, until I noticed my mom wasn't eating her Strawberry Daquiri. I immediately knew why. She had forgotten to order it without alcohol.

Without really thinking, I took it and stared at it for a moment, then took a sip. The taste haunted me the entire trip. It was completely revolting... not sweet and not delicious in any way. I do NOT know how people can drink this stuff. Anyways, there you have it, I tried alcohol in a Strawberry Daquiri. I guess what happens in Mexico stays in Mexico. Except when I put it on my blog. Oops :)

June 4... Almost here...

That's right, vacation is the on the way! I am stalling packing by updating my blog... hopefully it's a lot more interesting with the pictures and everything. I certainly am more interested in it now. Today I worked pretty much all day, which was not as entertaining as you'd originally think. But I was introduced to Crazy People, a VHS classic, about a man who writes tv advertisements the way they really are. Go here.

It is pretty hilarious. I also got busted by my boss with his surveillance camera for the first time... we were all watching that youtube video and he called to tell us to get back to work. It sucked, cause we really were busy at work all day!!

Here is me, smiling, because I am off to Mexico this next week and a half. Who cares if I have no prospect of a phone, friends, or college tuition??? I am going where the sun shines, where the beach water is clear, and where I can finally relax after this long depressing and stressful week. I will see you all on the 13th!

P.S. A big GOOOOOOOOOOD LUCK to my best friend Cailie Ercanbrack, who is competing for Miss Lehi this Saturday! You should all go and watch her, she has the best walk, talent, evening gown, swimming suit, and muscles ever! She will totally dominate. Have a good week everyone!

June 3... There are worse things.

It's true. There are worse things then getting your eyebrows waxed. Or even your legs. Or even getting dumped, or getting stabbed in the eye, or having your liver ripped out of your stomach.

You know what hurts worse?

Bikini wax.

Thanks to today's adventure, I know.

June 2... One is the lonliest number that you ever did see...

Today I opened at Sugarhouse for the first time by myself. I was a bit frightened, to be honest... I got up extra early and made sure to leave to be there on time... I was nervous that I wouldn't be able to get the key in, or remember the security code, but all went well. I got in alright, and worked quite well by myself! I brought in my ipod and got to listen to whatever I wanted, and I got to work at my own pace without getting distracted. Chances are I'll be opening and running Sugarhouse a lot more by myself when I get back from my trip. I'm stoked. Well... as stoked as you can be when you fill ink cartridges for a living.

I also went and ate at a new deli down the road, which was delicious.

Oh, and I dropped my phone in the sink with running water... that was new. Not so good. It's broke, the buttons freak out. So I don't know if that was the best new thing to do... but still, I did it. Yay for broken phones.

June 1... Super Sunday

Today, us girls got up early and went to church... not the 8th ward, but a combination. It was good, it was testimony meeting and the testimonies given were very good. It was nice going to church and feeling that good feeling that comes with it.

When we got back, we hung around and met another Dominican (the only one awake at noon...) named Jose. He was really nice and very friendly. He let us in and let us use his kitchen. Ash almost convinced him to serve a mission! Haha just kidding. We met up with Luke and Todd and hung out for a while... we took some pictures, watched Luke climb a tree like a monkey, and watched as Lindz walked right on top of her sunroof and cracked the glass. After all that excitement, we decided to hang out at First Dam for a while. I love it there, it's so peaceful and fun. Ash and I had a good heartfelt talk, and we wrote some pretty epic haikus.

Sitting at First Dam
The birds chirp and leaves are green-
I feel home again.

This feeling inside
I can't get him off my mind
Is it love true love?

Dedicated to Jones Hall:
It once was our home.
Destroyed, Tormented, Empy.
What once was, is lost.

Sitting there made me realize just how much Logan was my home, how much I missed my independence, and how much I want to go back to school. With money so tight, it is almost impossible for me, but I hope I can make my way through this and be able to do at least another semester. I need it more than anything right now.

Anyways. It was finally time to tell Logan goodbye, and we decided to swing by the FA building to grab a quick drink and say hello to familiar sculptures :) I was so excited to be back, we walked through the courtyard, and I had a memory for every corner, every building... we went to the piano department, and I left a note for Garrett. I also got into the Beethoven room and played my Chopin nocturne the way I should have played it for my jury. The only person there was Luke, but it didn't matter. I was home again, and the keys felt so good under my fingers. I feel like I have the motivation back, and I have Josh to thank for that. He brings out the music in me, and the music brings out the happiness. I am so thankful for that music, because without it, my world would be silent. Playing in the Beethoven room in the summer was my new thing, and the feeling I felt there was also new to me.

So it was time to go back home, and it was a looong drive back home with no AC or windows. Then as soon as I got home, we had to drive to the Bests for a family party. It was pretty awesome, I ate too much, but I just love our family. We got mangoes and sticky rice, which was delicious. Also, my grandma Aree got some silky pajamas for her birthday, and my grandpa exclaimed "Sexy, sexy!" when she held them up. We don't want to know or hear that....

We also got together some ideas for Craft Day, coming soon to a home near you! Our family is the shiz.

May 31st... Spur-of-the-moment trip to...

LOGAN!!!

How I have missed this place I used to call home, the place I will still always call home. After being apart from Josh and working a ton, I got to distract myself and take a trip back to Logan, along with my two old roomies Ash and Lindz. We had a blast! Lindz drove in her car, which was devoid of all hope of air conditioning. But I was ok with it, I just hung in there. It was a treat seeing the sights on the way to Logan in the daytime, because I had always driven back and forth there at night. I sighted an aerospace building in the middle of Ogden that I didn't know existed, and I saw the beautiful moutains absorb the evening's last sunshine rays.

We arrived safely and checked into Jones to stash our stuff... and were quite surprised. As we turned the corner, we could hear loud reggaeton music blasting from the windows, and we found all the doors surprisingly closed! The people from the DR now live here, and it was apparent that Jones was no longer the same. However, we had a good time, met up with some old friends we used to go dancing with, and we headed to the dance we came for. It was at NVO, and girls got in free before 10:00, so we were there for a long time. The dance didn't really pick up until later (if never), but I still had a blast! I met a few new friends and got to dance Bachata and Merengue, and they even complimented me on how well I could dance. Yay!

I had one shocking new thing happen: I got hit on by the creepiest of all the creepos out there. I was standing against a wall not dancing (I don't like dirty dancing to reggaeton) and a guy asked me if I wanted to dance. I denied him and said maybe the next one, and he waited for me. Then he pulled me off into the dark stage and started getting all up on me, and it was so creepy. I totally had to keep backing away... he was 26 years old and said he wanted to be my "very good friend"... He then asked me if I had a myspace, to which I replied "I do but I don't have the internet at my house"... and he asked for my phone number (To help with his "english"... yeah right, buddy), which I replied with "I have a boyfriend." He seemed a bit disgruntled after that, and Ashley came up to save me from having to dance with him again. But she said he kept staring at me the whole night... It was the scariest experience of my life.

I also had another new thing happen: I got to sleep in a bed with silk sheets. One of the DR boys Winton, was nice enough to let all 3 of us girls sleep in his bed, in Keegan and Andy's old room. Hahaha!! Weird! But it was really nice. Very silky, smooth and slidy.

May 30... Graduation again?

Today I ate at an authentic Japanese Restraunt for the first time. It was yummy, I ordered tempura vegetables with teriyaki chicken. The reason we were celebrating, was because it was my cousin Ben's graduation that night. So, we all drove to Provo to see him walk (It was a close call, apparently he came pretty close to not graduating...) All was good, and it was really nice to catch up with family.... especially Elise, and my cousin Will, who was currently serving as our bodyguard ;)
After we left and started driving home, we got a call from my cousins, saying that they had ran out of gas. So, my mom drove us to the nearest Chevron, where I knocked something else new off my list... I filled up my first gas can. I gotta say, it was waaaaaay harder than it looked. I put the nozzle in too far and pushed the button, making gas squirt over the top and drench my hand. Then, when we got there, we could NOT figure out how to screw on the nozzle for about ten minutes. We finally got it on, and their car started, which was a releif. It was definitely an adventure.
